    Chantiers Chibougamau permanently closed the Bearn sawmill on 10 July 2026 after years of monthly losses driven by very high production costs at a mill that had never been modernized, compounded by low lumber prices, US trade uncertainty and a weak construction sector (about 60 jobs).
